i never want to break your heart
this was a serious, serious hardcore day - on campus/downtown from 9:15 AM and didn't get home until 10:30ish PM... holy cow! what was truly striking is how not tired i felt on my walk home. this could have been due to a number of factors.

one, i had the new andrew wk album in my pocket. i caved and bought the CD - it sounds wussier than it should thanks to the crummy speakers on my PC...someday i will get the LP if they ever make one. anyway, though, even if the guys at the record store seemed to think this was only about a good laugh over that crazy andrew wk guy's latest antics, i know what it's really about. there are times when i think this guy might be our only hope. who 'our' defines and what sort of hope we're talking about here are questions for another day.

two, i ran into joan charcoal on the way home and she is far, far cuter than she ever was to start with. her lips are still full, her eyes are still wide, but her hair has only gotten shorter and what was most amazing was that she was wearing bright, friendly colors. it was cool out and i wanted to, i don't know, make her hot chocolate and then kiss her. but this was a minor thing, blessing though it was.

three, most importantly and broadly, my 9:30-10:30 day was spent for the most part in highly defensible and sensible pursuits. sure, one of my classes was overwhelming and one was a stunning waste of my time, but one was interesting and everything else i did was great, most especially working in the darkroom for a couple hours as the day turned to evening. kit-katty natty says that everyone should take a studio art class. i think i agree. it is so good at the end of the day to disappear into a productive place and work at something you enjoy than to trudge home while it is still hot out...

but the other side of these long days is that it's time for bed.

'i want you to remember you're not better off dead' - andrew wk
