muddley day
not one more thing please.

despite a day of many fine pleasures (massive amounts of bike riding, darkroom work, photoshoot and hangout w/ orange cross) i feel rather lame and ready to start getting sniffley and whiney at the next good excuse. the reasons for this?

1) didn't get to go to andrew wk. this is minor because i hadn't really gotten around to believing that i was going to be able to go, so the disappointment is less major.

2) slaved away in darkroom for several hours with thought of burger nite at clocked w/ orange cross driving me on, only to get home and find a message from her cancelling it because she was too tired and hungry. :( :( :(

3) slaved away in darkroom but really didn't get anywhere in terms of creating usable pictures. shoot from chelsea today was 1/4 ruined by shoddy film-loading technique, 1/4 ruined by bad metering, 1/4 ruined by shot composition that strongly backlit the subject. :( :( :( the rest are an even mix of possibly usable and out-of-focus so not. i might get away with a few of them at sizes smaller than 8x10. much burning and doging will be needed though. ugh. this is very disappointing.

4) never got to shoot with kitkatty. she simply didn't show up.

i dunno. it all feels like a day into which much energy was put but without much in the way of really concrete results. i'm imagining an alternate world where i got to go to andrew wk, or where i skipped all photo stuff and went to study session and learned something, or where i managed to get some really awesome pictures to justify the whole endeavor. so i feel lame. however, let's emphasize the good things that happened:

1) met a very nice and beautiful photographer, who also went on to teach me how to use the plastic reels so that hopefully from now on i will never have another roll ruined by loading error! yeh!

2) got at least some good pictures. that's always to be proud of. and even if all other work led nowhere, i did develop and make contact sheets, so that's two less things i have to do tomorrow.

3) got to hang out at length with orange cross! and she was really nice and we talked of many things in her life. hanging with her has been going very well lately, so, thumbs up to that.

4) biking, biking, biking. if i ever find a worthy meal to fill my empty stomach i will sleep very satisfied tonight, and i will be a few more steps closer to being in shape. thank goodness for this improving weather!

5) i have 'elstree' by the buggles stuck in my head, and that's never bad.
