the haunted house
i dreamed these things and more last night:
i travelled with matt and dana out to the northwest of town; we were looking for baskin robbins but dana didn't understand where it was and so we biked up over the hills and found ourselves overlooking an unfamiliar city - complete with tall buildings and streets lined with shops. matt and i declared that that rocked, so we went in. this part is blurry. matt and dana fade out of the picture, replaced by a guy of mixed spanish and italian blood. this is significant because we've apparently wandered into a neighborhood beset by nationalistic strife: it's primarily italian in composition and they hate the spaniards. after some time at an extraordinarily fancy restaurant we wander into surprisingly nearby dark dark alleys, the sketchiest places i've ever been, complete with dogs. we get out of there somehow and it's at a toy shop or anime convention that my companion uses his heritage to bridge the gaps in the community, making everything right.
blur. matt and i have a fight about something. blur.
biking on disarranged athens streets, turning left on "barber street" somewhere around where in real life broad street and atlanta highway diverge. this leads me up a small mountain to a strange two-story bar, where the second story can only be reached if they throw down a ladder or dumbwaiter or something of that nature. upstairs is famous comics artist neal williams, who looks somewhere between alan moore and that iron and wine guy. i can't remember the tone of our exchange but i think it was intense.
then there's a lengthy digression into a computer game type scenario. the game i am playing resembles warcraft 3 but with distinct star control 2 elements. megan tyrrell pops up to help me through the space combat, with the excellent tip to let the rival clans beat up on each other before i get involved. the graphics are so great that i can't help taking a few easy shots though. i also discuss my internet phone with her; she already knows that you can check the voicemail over the internet, and thinks it's really cool. but meanwhile, there is some conversation with her and amish that i don't remember anymore. edited to add: i just realized how cool that computer game fusion is, because it means you're fighting zombies.... in space. woohoo!
