this free MP3 player that came as a promo for my DSL subscription has already proven surprisingly useful even though the headphones keep falling out. it's a lot easier to get through a mountain of millions of room service trays that need to be cleared of dishes if you have "makeout club," "roadrunner," and "girl with the strawberry hair" at your disposal. it's kind of messed up though and has a habit of declaring things to be by the wrong artist; for example, did you know "i see a darkness" was recorded by missy elliott? if only it was! meanwhile, i also get three free months of napster, which is a bad idea for them because i am going to abuse the fuck out of it. already i am doing moronic shit like making stone temple pilots compilations. they have a surprising number of mediocre songs of which i am basically fond. even shit i seriously fucking changed the channel for in the late 90s like "sour girl" is sounding basically okay to me now. i guess this is what getting old involves: even stuff you didn't like as a teenager sounds kinda good.
