1:49 a.m. - 2006-03-31 more generally: i leave columbus tomorrow for new york, satisfied by what i've found here: a bigger, denser, more geographically extensive variation on the bustling town model. i am confident of several things: the campus (my program's building especially) is lovely, there are hotties to be found here, i will eventually find pinball machines, there are decent restaurants. a place called the 'blue danube' (but "only rubes don't call it the dube," according to lotus) one-ups the grill AND clocked by having less surly staff, cheaper burgers, a generally more appealing menu (fried macaroni and cheese balls!) and a terminator 3 pinball machine. the hotties were probably the most important find - as in my first trip to new york, i was pleased by many things i found here but troubled by a vague unease that i would not connect with a peer group, etc...that is now somewhat allayed... one more thing, it is beautifully, continuously flat here (although with enough occasional variations to make life interesting) - bike city, bike city - i could cover miles here without breaking a sweat... last but not least: my athens fans will be pleased to learn that my program's administrators decided this week that we should start in early september, rather than mid-summer. looks like you're stuck with me just a little bit longer, lovers... |
