nobody wanna see us to-gether
this morning at studio i had that a-kon song stuck in my head so i turned on the radio thinking i might catch it at some point. it started playing LITERALLY the moment i turned on the radio. awesome.
the video really makes me wish chelsea and emily were around to watch it with. i think both of them would appreciate its sweet charms.
the other day i was walking up neil ave. and came upon a shattered stereo on the ground. from the debris pattern i deduced that it was probably hurled from the second story balcony of the student ghetto building above. having taken a hammer to a similar device a few years ago i could relate to the impulse. but what intrigued me was a cassette tape, unlabelled, lying in the wreckage, perfectly intact. i hoped against hope that the stereo might have been recording (on battery power) at the moment of the destruction, making the cassette a kind of 'black box recorder' for the whole situation. it turned out to just be a half-finished mixtape, evidently from someone who graduated high school in 2000 or 2001. to wit:

an astonishing document of mediocrity - although i'll admit i enjoyed "pardon me" more than i should have, and i have never had anything against "this kiss." i liked "independent woman" and "everything to everyone" pretty good when they came out. they haven't dated so well. the vitamin c thing i hated then and now.
