the youth you're trying to inspire
today was a day of compliments, such as:
1. i found out about an affair between coworkers.....and i wasn't the last to know!
2. my boss seems to have finally decided that i can be trained as a bartender even if i don't drink. in kind of a strange moment, she told me i could have a training shift this week and i could pick what position it would be for. all in a flash it was like an RPG where you have to pick whether the guy will raise your hit points or improve your bow and arrow skills.
3. the new natassia (now arguably the definitive natassia) dedicated "100%" by sonic youth to me (and natalya, too).
(by the way, tomorrow night is her last night in town for a long long time, possibly forever? caledonia: geoff reacher, indie rock karaoke, and the shy bulldozer who stole all our hearts and broke all our glasses.)
4. heather lynn said that the reason i'm awesome is that i dance like i'm drunk (even though i never am). anytime heather lynn gives you a dancing related compliment you know you have done something right. and that's a pretty super set of things to hear from anybody, anyway. i did have to work not to let this make me self-consciously aware of my drunken dancing but the succession of wonderful songs and instant-classic performances made that easier. anyway i shall have to pay this forward by leaving that testimonial i had mentally planned for cathy de la cruz.
5. this isn't really a compliment as such, but i got five free rolls of pictures back from eckerd, because they were fiendishly late.
